Week 15 – Design Thinking

Hey and welcome to the very last post on this website, most likely ever. It’s been a fun and interesting semester and Art 110 has taught me a lot. To finish up this semester, it couldn’t fit any better than a Design Thinking activity about my future and life and career decisions! In this activity, we were asked to write down 3 possible future me’s with different scenarios. This was based on three questions:

  1. The thing you currently think you’ll be doing with your life
  2. The thing you would do if the current thing disappeared tomorrow
  3. The thing you would do if you were financially secure, and no one would ever laugh, go ahead, what would it be?

For the first question, I think right now I would end up doing some type of work related to the LGBT+ community because I’m myself a part of it and because it’s a very important cause for me. Since I’m a film major and that’s also something I want to work with right now, I would promote the LGBT community through forms of media such as films and the media’s portrait of the LGBT. I would want to promote it and normalize it to a standard where being LGBT is not a thing anymore, it’s just being human. I don’t know if this would ever happen because that’s a very long way to go, but that’s what I want to achieve or start building.

We were also asked to rate 5 scales for each scenario. This was confidence, resources, impact and satisfaction. I’m going to use the scale 1-10.

  1. Confidence: 7
  2. Resources: 5
  3. Impact: 9
  4. Satisfaction: 8

For the second question, I choose to play soccer because soccer has been a huge part of most of my life and is something I truly love to do. I played soccer for ten years and stopped because I wanted to focus on school. I’ve always loved soccer and will always love playing it so it there’s was something that would disappear tomorrow that I would want to do, it would be soccer. It’s only when I play soccer that I feel completely different, lost in the world without any concern about the real world. I’m a different person because soccer is in many ways my true passion. However, I never wanted to play professional soccer because as soon as it becomes professional, much of the happiness and freedom with it is going to be lost.

  1. Confidence: 10
  2. Resources: 4
  3. Impact: 6
  4. Satisfaction: 7

For the last question, I think I would have been traveling the world with my closest friends, filming and taking photos of crazy stuff we would have been doing. If money or a “career” wasn’t a big deal, I would live my life to the fullest with people I love, exploring the world for what it really has to offer. I would want to be spontaneous and do a lot od adventurous things and activities such as paragliding, snorkeling, surfing and crazy adrenaline experiences. I would also film or document everything so that I could look back at and enjoy.

  1. Confident: 9
  2. Resources: 3
  3. Impact: 3
  4. Satisfaction: 10

That was everything for this website. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed this class and everything I’ve learned.
